Greetings,
My name is Najela Blain-Hammond. I’m the school-wide coordinator for the Optimal Learning Center and the resource specialist in grades 4-5.
As the OLC coordinator, I assist in placements of students in the OLC program. I also work with the OLC staff on program development that benefits all students at Carol Morgan School.
As the resource specialist in grades 4-5, my primary goal is to ensure that your children reach their full potential while raising their self-esteem and their beliefs in themselves. Your children will be in contact with me four times a cycle. I will assist them two days in the classroom and two days in the resource room. I will work in close collaboration with the classroom teachers to help your children achieve the goals that we have set for them.
I am also excited about the benefits the OLC program brings to all students at CMS. As resource teachers, we also help classroom teachers implement programs that will differentiate learning for all students. This year, my goal is to promote literature circles as a way to promote discussion in small groups, encourage students to learn from one another, and most importantly to teach many facets of comprehension.
