Hi dear parents and students!

Art K and Music Pre-kinder through First grade have a new location.

We are in one corner of our new and beautiful CMS Art Center.

Feel free to stop and take a look to our "new home"

We are learning new songs and make wonderful works of art with our dear little artists.

Encourage them by asking them about their activities every other day.

The first graders are going to have a wonderful Virtual trip to the Cleveland Institute of Music in our beautiful Video conference room, here are some details about the contet:

DALCROZE: EURHYTHMICS-VIRTUAL TRIP

Novemver 11 and November 17

Eurhythmics (also Rhythmic Gymnastics) is an approach to music education that was devised by Émile Jaques-Dalcroze. This method utilizes physical movement and musical rhythms to teach and reinforce musical concepts.

Research shows that pre-schooled children (ages 4-6) who are involved with movement programs such as Eurhythmics have a better sense of rhythmic movement and a sense of space.

Dalcroze approach teaches an understanding of music’s fundamental concepts, expressive meanings, and deep connections to other arts and activities. Performers, teachers, dancers, actors, children, and senior citizens can all benefit from this approach which incorporates rhythmic movement, aural training and improvisation.

In a Dalcroze class, students are freed from the constraints of formal performance to experience the deep musical knowledge and feeling evoked through movement. When they have discovered themselves as the source of their own musicality, they have much to bring to the practice room or to the stage. Based on the philosophy that we are the instrument, Dalcroze invites us to live what we hear.

 Parents and teachers welcome!

Please, check the CMS links for the School Calendar updates.

CMS LINKS

  • CMS Webpage

  •  First grade students (and Kinder too) can benefit from all the resource we can find in the web.

Help them find this wonderful link and start practicing on the

     VIRTUAL KEYBOARD

where they can start creating their own Melodies to improve their listening skills and creativity.

I also highly recommend  my students to learn to play a musical instrument, some of them will choose drums of course, if this is the case, it will be also good for them to take some solfege (reading and singing musical notes and symbols).

I want to share these links with you.
